What is nwiz.exe?
The nwiz.exe process is NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager Configuration Wizard. This process provides an interface for configuring and managing installed NVIDIA graphics products.
The NVIDIA nView Wizard is used for NVIDIA nView Control Panel configuration, which is designed to maximize the capabilities of video display adapters that use the NVIDIA engine. The NVIDIA nView Wizard (nwiz.exe) is present in the NVIDIA graphic cards released from 2002 onwards and normally packaged with the device driver installation disk.
Important: Some viruses camouflage themselves as nwiz.exe, especially if they are located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder. Scan your computer with Auslogics Antivirus to make sure it's not infected.
How to Fix Nwiz.exe High CPU Usage
The nwiz.exe file can sometimes cause high CPU usage. This happens because it requires a certain registry key, but if it can’t find that key it starts bombarding the Registry with calls. That makes the CPU usage increase. If you think that nwiz.exe is causing high CPU usage because the nwiz.exe process is making too many registry requests, you can check if there are a lot of Registry calls pointing to NVTweak \ DisableWindowCaching.
If that’s the case, there are two possible solutions. You can either create a new DWORD DisableWindowCaching and set it to 0 or disable the nwiz.exe loading at startup, which is a better option if your system doesn’t use multiple monitors.
